NOX Cycles is investing three million Euros in a new corporate building in Austrian Zillertal

On Monday, 09/21/2020, NOX broke ground for an extensive company expansion. With roots in Berlin, the Nox Cycles brand started operations in the Austrian Zillertal in 2017. A state-of-the-art, sustainable and resource-saving administration and production building will now be built on an area of 3,500 m²; completion is scheduled for the end of 2021.

NOX Cycles Austria GmbH started operations in Zell am Ziller almost three years ago in October 2017 with the aim of producing high-quality, alpine-compatible e-mountain bikes "Made in Austria". Carsten Sommer, managing director and owner of NOX Cycles: “In 2017, in distant Berlin, the decision was made to found the NOX Cycles brand, which has been in existence since 2004, into their own e-mountain bike manufacturer, NOX Cycles Austria‘. And this company should be located where mountain bikes belong - in the mountains. "

The international e-bike boom did not surprise him, says Sommer, but it did come as a surprise that NOX Cycles reached its spatial limits so quickly. “Three years after the start, our initially huge premises are already far too small. With the help of the Tyrol location agency, we have succeeded in finding a suitable plot of land at the entrance to the Zillertal in order to give our strong growth the right space, ”said Sommer.

"Fort Nox" should be finished at the end of 2021
NOX Cycles is investing around three million euros in the construction of the new company building, which is planned to be ready for moving in at the end of 2021. In the course of the expansion, the managing director is expecting at least ten more full-time positions in addition to the 17 jobs already created over the course of the next three years. In order to operate the building as energy-efficiently as possible, the use of a photovoltaic facade in combination with a heat pump is planned. Solar-powered car and e-bike charging stations are intended to complete the sustainable project.

"It's like a summer fairy tale",
Josef Margreiter, Managing Director of Lebensraum Tirol Holding, grins on the occasion of the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sommer couple. “It is very positive that NOX Cycles will expand its operations in the Zillertal. This expansion underlines the importance of Tyrol as a breeding ground for alpine technologies and as a sporting land."

The Tyrolean Minister for Economic Affairs, Patrizia Zoller-Frischauf, also welcomes the company to the new location. “Investments like those made by Nox Cycles are particularly important for Tyrol as a business location. Especially now in these crisis-ridden and uncertain times, every company that invests and secures jobs in the long term is of great importance, ”says Zoller-Frischauf.
